A true architectural masterpiece set in the rock, just 30m above lake level. This is the monastic complex of Saint Catherine, formed by two convents and a church, which in itself contain almost a thousand years of history.
According to legend, the hermitage was founded in 1170 by a merchant named Alberto da Besozzo, who, due to a violent storm, crashed here and saved himself by invoking Saint Catherine of Alexandria.
The guided tour starts right from the lake, which is accessed by private boat. You will visit the old Carmelite garden, the southern convent built in 1500, the Chapter house, the courtyard with the old press and, crossing the arches of the small convent, you will reach the reproduction of Lourdes grotto with the wonderful church of Saint Catherine.

You will visit with the guide, the wonderful Sacellum, the first votive chapel of the complex, the miraculous Chapel of the rock, which preserves the remains of its founder Alberto; the Chapel of the Virgin, The Chapel of Saint Catherine, The Chapel of St. Nicholas with the great crucifixion of 1300 and the eighteenth-century organ of the Royal Chapel of Naples.
At the end of the guided tour, you will have time to take a look in the small shop of the Benedictines, who still live here and sell their natural products.
