“Winner of the orange flag”..
Along the lake, you will arrive with your tour guide in Cannobio, the last Italian village before the border with the nearby Switzerland.
Noble village of ancient history, of which it shows important vestiges; this is the village of Lake Maggiore that has preserved, more than the other villages, its typical Italian medieval style with fourteenth-century buildings.
The guided tour starts from the wonderful lakefront that houses the ancient church “Santissima Pietà”, strongly desired by San Carlo Borromeo. A miraculous place, in which a miracle happened in 1522. In the sanctuary you will visit the marvelous altarpiece signed by Gaudenzio Ferrari, a painter of the sixteenth century who worked with the best painters, followers of the great master Leonardo.
You will also visit the Hotel Cannobio, where the sounds, of master Giuseppe Verdi, still echo today..
From the lakefront you will go into the narrow stone lanes of the historic centre, in search of secret corners of the village: the fountains, the squares, the old wash house, the Hall Town "Parasi" also used, in the past, as prison.
A short distance away is the church of San Vittore, the parish church of Cannobio; it preserves a very important relic, of a miracle full of mystery and charm.
The visit of the city has no entry costs.
